SourceLink Tulsa was unveiled at a press conference in February 2010, and the first year of the program has proven very successful. SourceLink was launched with a vision of spurring the growth of small businesses and start-ups in the Tulsa region. It serves as a referral network that links small and emerging business owners to area resource partners that provide a range of business-building services – at no cost to small business owners or the program’s 75-plus resource partners.
In its first year, SourceLink has assisted more than 3,200 entrepreneurs whose businesses have ranged from concept stage to those with revenue exceeding $1 million. Nearly one-third of entrepreneurs accessing SourceLink services noted they were an established business; 43 percent were looking for start-up assistance, and 22 percent were seeking resources in their concept phase. The remaining 4 percent accessing the network were businesses with revenue exceeding $1 million.
With 82 percent of all businesses in the Tulsa MSA having fewer than 10 employees and a $1.4 billion annual impact on the region, the SourceLink program presents the opportunity to reach out to numerous small business owners, providing them the right services and tools at the right time.
Small business owners can contact SourceLink to find a resource partner, a schedule of entrepreneurial education opportunities, links to online resources and a library of other valuable materials.
